01 S80 2.9 non turbo ENGINE LIGHT P1171, P1181 codes

Car runs fine. Just replaced transmission. Has 100,700 miles

Mechanic checked pressure of system. OK, fixed broken line. still get the fuel trim codes.

Cleaned the Mass Air Flow sensor. Codes came back.

Does anyone have an opinion on these codes ? I plan to erase/drive for a few cycles to see if they disappear.

Given the car runs fine does replacing the MAF sensor, an easy DIY job seem like a logical first step ?

After installation, will there likely be a software issue (dealer required ?) when the computer sees "new" hardware ?

Hi, This is a fuel trim upper limit code, which means your car is experiecing a lean condition. Almost anything which regulates the air/fuel mixture is suspect. A vacuum leak is the most likely cause, but being a volvo, I recommend metering the TPS to see if the voltages are correct at idle and WOT.
If everything checks out, check the O2 sensors. If something coated part of your sensors, oxygen flow would reduce and the computer would think it is running rich and would start leaning down the mixture.
Also, the evaporative canister purge valve is mentioned often on Volvos as being a common source of a vacuum leak, don`t forget to check that
